Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few weeks, you know that the Playstation 4 is all the rage right now. With no region locking, no DRM and no online check in (despite Microsofts too-little-too-late backing down yesterday), the PS4 has become the people’s choice console.
Remember back in 2000 when the PS2 launched to huge demand and couldn’t quite meet that demand? We might have a repeat of history on our hands. With the pre-order demand for the PS4 across various retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop outrunning the Xbox One, analysts are predicting that the demand will outstrip the supply.
In an interview with Forbes Magazine, SCE America CEO, Jack Tretton mentioned that given the price, power and popularity of the Playstation 4, it will “have consumers interested in excess of what Sony is able to manufacture.”
This news comes after GameStop executives said that they would buy every single Playstation 4 unit that Sony can manufacture.
SCE CEO Andrew House also said that the Playstation 4 demand may well “outstrip the supply”.
What can we learn from this, ladies and gentlemen? Go and pre-order your Playstation 4 before it’s too late! You don’t want to be the one standing out in the cold with no PS4 when everybody else is inside getting glued to the screen!
